Heart valve disease is a common, serious, but treatable condition that affects more than one million Canadians but until now has maintained a low profile in the world of cardiovascular disease.
In 2018, Heart Valve Voice Canada (HVVC) was established as a non-profit patient advocacy organization to improve the health and quality of life of people living with heart valve disease. We advocate for increased awareness and early diagnosis, timely access to appropriate treatment, removal of barriers to receiving that diagnosis and treatment, and ensuring meaningful support for those affected by heart valve disease. Our advocacy network includes patients and their caregivers, a multi-disciplinary group of health care professionals, and other cardiac and patient advocacy and service organizations.
