Heart Valve Voice Welcomes Ellen Ross as Managing Director

January 18, 2021

Heart Valve Voice Canada is excited to welcome Ellen Ross as Managing Director! This is a new role for HVV Canada that will be the next step in the growth and development of our organization. We are thrilled to have Ellen join our team to help increase awareness of heart valve disease among Canadians and provide additional resources and support to those navigating this diagnosis.

About Ellen

Ellen has accumulated a rich blend of experience in marketing strategy and execution, health promotion, patient engagement and corporate partnerships. She is currently serving a second term on the board of Global Heart Hub, an international alliance of heart patient organizations whose mission is to create a unified global voice for those impacted by heart disease.

For the past 12 years Ellen worked at the Heart and Stroke Foundation. She recently managed a successful campaign to raise awareness that heart disease and stroke is the number one cause of premature death of women in Canada. Prior to that she was responsible for the development of health information resources to inform, educate and engage patients.

With a BSc in Nutrition, Ellen was a Nutritionist at Nestle and worked closely with a variety of healthcare professionals, presenting clinical research findings as well as planning and executing medical education events. Ellen has spent a significant amount of her career in marketing roles at General Mills Restaurants and American Express.

We asked Ellen what she is most excited about in joining HVV Canada.

I am excited to combine my diverse marketing and health promotion experience in cardiovascular disease with my passion for patient engagement to work on initiatives that raise awareness and will improve the outcomes and quality of life of those individuals living with heart valve disease.

It’s not every day that you get to join a young organization with an important mandate and have the chance to help shape its growth and drive impact.

I am enthusiastic about the evolution of patient engagement to improve outcomes.  There is much work to be done in this important area and I want to help make a difference to the health of Canadians living with valve disease!

Ellen officially begins her role with us at the end of January. Welcome, Ellen!
